My Top 10 Favourite Movies and Why: Part ii (8 & 7)

My Top 10 Favourite Movies and why:

8 – IT (2017):

It-movie-poster
IT

IT is the most recent adaptation of the heavily cult-like affiliated novel written by Stephen King (who is recognised as ‘one of the greatest storytellers of our time’ by guardian and is a personal favourite of my own). The story follows a small group of outcast 10-12 year olds who face a creature that reemerges from the shadows to prey on the town’s children every 27 years. The band of misfitted children must find a way to destroy the evil, that most commonly takes form as Pennywise the dancing clown, even if It can shapeshift into their greatest fears.

Call me by your name

Based on the Novella by André Aciman, It’s the summer of 1983, and precocious 17-year-old Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Nominee) is spending the days with his family at their 17th-century villa in Lombardy, Italy. He soon meets Oliver (Armie Hammer), a handsome doctoral student who’s working as an intern for Elio’s father. Amid the sun-drenched splendour of their surroundings, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever. (Adapted from Google Synopsis).

Conclusion – Personal thoughts and recommendations

I love this film. I love Timothée Chalamet. I love the book. I love it all. If you can’t already tell, my opinion may be a little bias in this conclusion but I’ll try my best to not be too subjective. There are a lot of mixed reviews when it comes to this movie, you’ll either adore it or be sincerely and utterly against it. Honestly I can understand where some people are coming from, the main argument being the age, but this isn’t really the point of the film you should be focusing on it’s the general message behind it. Either way, my opinion aside, if you do choose the see this film and this is a sensitive point for you, keep that factor in mind.

I would recommend this film to anyone who’s willing to watch something a little different to the average film out in 2017 as it truely is and it is quite a beautiful story. Also, if you do wish to see it, read the book too! Its short and absolutely beautifully written! I highly recommend it.

To conclude, a good thing to keep in mind is keep an eye out for the rating of this film as it is based on the exploration of sexuality so it would be wise to keep in mind there will probably be some explicit scenes in this film.

If you choose to see it, enjoy! And comment your opinion on the film in the comments!

Part 3 coming soon!
