A Quiet Place – 2018
A Quiet Place, directed and starred by The Office’s John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt, is a tense and secluding dystopian horror film that will leave you sensitive and apprised to any and all sound leaving the cinema. The story takes place in the near future in a post-apocalyptic America after blind alien-like creatures have hunted and disposed of all living creatures that make sound and follows the story of a protective father, a pregnant mother, a chronically deaf daughter and an unnerved son all trying to survive.
Rotten Tomatoes: 95%
Bechdel test: pass
Conclusion – Personal thoughts and recommendations
A Quiet Place was absolutely chilling. The idea and concept behind the film was definitely something new and for that I really enjoyed it. The only thing more frightening than having to sit in the cinema was leaving it and being consumed by the noises on the streets. yeah but this movie is kinda worth the stress. One thing I really enjoyed about this movie was not only the originality of the concept but the fact that a horror movie actually had a concept. It’s extremely known that movies under the horror genre is all schlock and no story but not to worry! This isn’t one of those schlock horror movies! Don’t worry!
I would recommend this film to who was/is considering seeing the film. Although it’s a tense environment, there’s nothing too scarring and no gory imagery so no need to worry about that!
To conclude, a good thing to consider that this is still a horror movie so beware of the movie ratings and your expectations of the scary-ness of the film. I also recommend watching on the cinema screen as it gives an extreme of the tense environment. And Don’t MAKE A NOISE IN THE CINEMA!
If you choose to see it, enjoy! And comment your opinion on the film in the comments or on my in-depth review of the film (warning: review contains spoilers from the film).
