Conclusion – Personal thoughts and recommendations
I read the Maze Runner book series about 4 years ago and personally, I enjoyed it a lot. The movie series always disappointed me slightly as it could never really compare to the books, but then again, it’s hard for movies to compete with novels. I liked The Death Cure movie better than the first two movies, and that’s a lot coming from me as I hated the last establishment of the books. It was quite intense, as a thriller should be, but also had a lot of emotion in the scenes. I personally thought Thomas Brodie Sangster, who plays the character Newt in the series, performance was very good as he steered heavily away from his usual character. Overall, I was impressed with the movie as I did enter the theatre with a bit of skepticism.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who has read the book series as their are a couple easter eggs throughout the film for the readers and for those who have seen the previous movies to the series – The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials.
To conclude, a good thing to keep in mind before seeing the film is that there are some graphic/violent scenes and to be advised of viewer discretion and that this is the last addition to the movie series so it is advised, as stated previously, to watch the first two before seeing this movie.
If you choose to see it, enjoy! And comment your opinion on the film in the comments or on my in-depth review of the film (warning: review contains spoilers from the film).
